DEFEATED: Bedford County Wheel Tax Referendum

A Referendum will be on the Primary Elections ballot for a $50 Wheel Tax.

The proceeds of this Proposed Wheel Tax will go to fund a new Cascade School as well as a required new County Jail.

Proponents of this referendum state that the tax will prevent the County from raising Property Taxes to cover the costs of these two large projects, while opponents state it will not prevent the County Taxes from being raised as the Wheel Tax Alone will not cover the total costs of the two projects.
